Privacy Policy
Template document for a fictional company. It must be reviewed and adapted by qualified legal counsel before it is used on a live website.
This Privacy Policy explains how Chalkwren, Inc. (“Chalkwren”, “we”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit our website, contact us or use our services. For individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, Chalkwren, Inc. is the controller of your personal data.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us (for example through our forms), information created when you use our services, and limited technical data from your browser.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- service providers who process it on our behalf under contract (hosting, email delivery, customer support, payment processing);
- professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it;
- a buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger or acquisition.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International transfers
We are based in the United States. When we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: account data for the life of the account plus up to 90 days; sales enquiries for up to 24 months after our last contact; billing records for as long as tax law requires. We then delete or anonymize it.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your rights (EEA and UK)
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Your rights (California and other US states)
Residents of California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access, correct and delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing and of targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information, and we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You may use an authorized agent; we may need to verify your identity and the agent’s authority.
In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information listed in the table above, from the sources described in this policy, for the purposes listed there.
How to make a request
Email hello@chalkwren.examplewith the subject “Privacy request”. We respond within one month (GDPR) or 45 days (US state laws), and will tell you if we need more time.
Children
Our services are not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
